Dirt Tapes: The Analog Cassette Resistance

We're a group of analog lovers who fell in love with music in the '90s thanks to audio cassettes. Ever since then, we've never stopped listening to them. :)

Founded in 2021 from an idea by Karim Qqru (The Zen Circus), alongside David Stefani, Max Iantorno, and Giacomo Coveri, Dirt Tapes is a 360-degree ecosystem dedicated to all things audio cassette.

We aren't waging a war against digital; rather, we're responding to the need for physicality in music. We want to restore dignity to the ritual of slow, dedicated listening: the physical act of inserting a tape, the mechanical charm, and the warmth of that harmonic distortion that shaped entire generations.


The Label

Through the Dirt Tapes Label, we release our favorite past, present (and future) albums on cassette, paying obsessive attention to remastering, artwork, and packaging. We span a wide range of musical worlds:

  • Indie & Alternative: We bring iconic and unreleased albums to tape from artists like The Zen Circus, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Calibro 35, and Dente.
  • Hip-Hop Classics: In collaboration with Time2Rap, we curate reissues of the cornerstones of Italian rap.
  • Dirt Tapes Sounds: A series created with Four Flies Records to rediscover rare and precious Italian soundtracks and library music from the '60s, '70s, and '80s.

Cassette Bazaar & Blank Tapes

Having grown up on the magic of mixtapes, we know exactly how crucial the choice of media is. In our store you'll find:

  • Originals & Imports: Original pressings from the '70s, '80s, and '90s—meticulously 100% tested on professional TEAC and Nakamichi decks—as well as modern reissues (UK and US Imports).
  • Blank Tapes: Tapes of every type, color, and length (C-30, C-46, C-60, C-90). We also sell ultra-rare, sealed copies of vintage Chrome tape (a technology that has been out of production for over 24 years).
  • Accessories: Cases, cassette holders, and a few little surprises for true collectors.

The Tape-Roller: Our Stereo Cassette Player

We didn't want to stop at just producing tapes; we wanted everyone to be able to listen to them in the proper quality. That's why we created the Dirt Tapes line of portable stereo cassette players.

Our latest model, the Tape-Roller Plus, is the first to feature a metal wheel-mechanism. It's a hybrid player with an exposed mechanism and high-quality heads, perfect for reducing audio imperfections. Connectable to headphones, smartphones, amplifiers, or your PC (to digitize your old tapes), it is the ultimate bridge between analog and modern setups.
